Brian McKnight Concert Review

Tadi malam, akhirnya gue pergi juga nonton konsernya Brian McKnight.. Walaupun seharian cuaca kadang mendung kadang hujan, berhubung konsernya indoor jadi ndak ada masalah.. rencananya gue mau nonton ama menik, tapi dia lagi sakit... trus ada temen gue ngajakin nonton bareng juga, katanya udah beli tiket tapi gak bisa dateng juga karena banyak lemburan.. walhasil pergi ke konser sendirian.. no problem!

Parkir? hectic banget.. di deket indoor tennis senayan dah penuh.. luber sampe di tepi jalan.. ya udah daripada kenapa-kenapa, gue parkir aja di plaza senayan trus jalan bentar ke indoor tennis senayan..

gue nyampe di indoor jam 7.30 malam.. diluar banyak orang menunggu.. kebanyakan sih teenager alias ABG dan 20something boys & girls.. couple juga banyak.. selain itu banyak juga calo nawarin tiket konser.. gak tau deh berapa harganya.. yg pasti lebih mahal dari harga tiketbox..

Konsernya dijadwalkan untuk dimulai jam 8.00 malam.. biasa jam karet.. baru mulai jam 9.00 malam.. Sejam nunggu di festival pegel juga yah.. sambil liat kiri dan kanan.. ada beberapa artis yg duduk di deretan VIP seperti Rima Melati.. Samuel Rizal dan pacarnya.. Duo Lingua Frans dan Amara.. Harvey Malaiholo.. Bebi Romeo dan pacarnya.. Nah artis2x kebanyakan di VIP atau di Tribun.. kalau Surya Saputra nontonnya di festival.. tumben..

Jam 9 pas.. Brian akhirnya nongol juga.. Malam itu dia kostum baju jeans tanpa lengan.. menonjolkan bisepsnya yang dihiasi tato kunci G di bahu kanan dan tato superman dengan huruf B, di bahu kiri.. cool!.. dia juga megang handuk biru buat ngelap keringet..

Lagu pertamanya lagu berirama cepat.. ternyata Brian bisa juga main gitar ya.. gue lupa judulnya... (menurut berita di liputan 6 sctv) katanya ada sekitar 40 lagu dia nyanyiin.. gue sih kagak ngitungin.. emang banyak bener sih.. Kebanyakan dia nyanyiin bait pertama - kedua terus langsung reff trus selesai lagunya..

Brian nyanyi dengan didukung band kecil saja.. cuma ada satu drummer.. satu pemain bass.. satu pemain keyboard.. satu pemain gitar.. Brian sendiri jago banget main pianonya.. bukan piano beneran sih.. cuma keyboard bersuara piano...

Anyway soundsystemnya kurang professional.. micnya si Brian.. beberapa kali ilang suaranya.. sampe gonta ganti mic beberapa kali deh.. prepare gak sih EOnya??? .. sempat juga di tengah-tengah lagu.. speakernya berdengung keras banget..

Selain nyanyiin lagu sendiri.. Brian juga bawain lagu lagu orang lain.. dia nyanyiin Unforgetable.. dgn gaya dan suara Nat King Cole.. trus dia juga bawain lagunya Stevie Wonder, sambil main piano dengan gaya geleng-geleng kepala khas Stevie Wonder.. lucu banget...

Ada kejutan kecil di tengah konser.. tiba-tiba Brian teriak "please welcome my future wife..Titi" .. kirain sapa.. ternyata Sang Diva Indonesia, Titi DJ keluar dr samping panggung.. Titi memakai baju pink dgn selendang pink melingkar di leher.. dia memakai celana hitam transparan, di dalamnya keliatan pakai bicycle pants hitam... kemudian mereka berduet.. duh lupa lagu yg mana.. kalo gak salah lagu duetnya dgn Vanessa Williams yg judulnya "Love Is".. setelah lagunya selesai, Titi dipeluk trus dicium pipinya ama Brian.. pada ngiri deh cewe cewe disitu he he he..

Konser yang dimulai jam 9 ini.. berakhir pukul 10.30.. lagu pamungkasnya yang ditunggu-tunggu "One Last Cry".. tiba-tiba panggungnya dihiasi gemerlap lampu-lampu kecil bak bintang bintang.. setelah itu.. Brian say goodbye.. trus penonton minta lagi.. we want more.. we want more... eh Brian nongol lagi buat nyanyiin "All night long".. bener-bener lagu penutup.. pakai kembang api segala...

Fish & Chips

If you order a fish & chips meal, you will be expecting a plate of deep-fried fish and some french fries...
I believe chips (australian terms) mean something like french fries, right?

well, last night I order fish & chips at Dixie, Kafe Taman Semanggi during dinner with some friends...
and guess what, they served "fish & chips" in real terms...
the fish looks like a large "pisang goreng"... perhaps they used the same flour...

and you know what they served for the chips... literally real potato chips, just like "Chitato"...
not even look like french fries... *geez* what a rip off..

never try the fish & chips again at Dixie...

Indonesian Idol

I've just heard that Fremantle Media Indonesia will conduct auditions for Indonesian Idol, which will be aired this March or April 2004 in RCTI oke! Our very own Indonesian version of American Idol! Makes me wonder who will be the judges.. who will be the tough jury like simon.. the sweet one like paula..

Auditions will be held at Medan, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Bandung and Jakarta.

hooray.. beyonce just won 5 Grammy Awards for her solo debut album "dangerously in love"... this girl from destiny's child wore a very sexy cute pink dress that evening.. Beyonce succesfully brought home the awards for:

- Best Female R&B Vocal
- Best Female Contemporary Album for "Dangerously in Love"
- Best R&B Single for "Crazy in Love"
- Best Rap Collaboration for duet with JayZ in "Crazy In Love"
- Best Duo/Group Collaboration for duet with Luther Vandross in "The Closer I Get to You"

weekend..

Friday night.. i've got this dinner with office mates down at kafe pisa near thamrin, celebrating birthdays, job promotions and farewell too.. the meal was a package deal around 80.000 ++, with the choice of tenderloin steak, scallop, chicken cordon bleu for the main course.. soft drink or lemon tea for the drinks.. ended with 2 scoops of ice cream or tiramisu cake.. well, i don't think it worth that much since the meal portion was quite small.. there was a home band that evening, called "Magenta" who sang some Top 40's tune..

Saturday afternoon.. went to cinema at PIM with some friends.. watch this flix of Russell Crowe about the battle of ships.. "Master and Commander: The Far Side of The World".. Nothing special about the movie though.. quite boring till the end.. well, the interesting part was that there were scenes down at Galapagos island with all this rare and bizarre animals.. interesting!

Saturday night.. went to this new club at Menara Jamsostek, Level 25.. the club called BLISS.. it was r&B night.. the club is quite modern with huge dance floor.. with a pillar in the middle just like the glowing warp engine of a startrek ship.. there are two bars on two sides.. one side with projector walls showing clips from music videos.. the other side bar is covered with colorful square tiles.. the DJ turtable is right on the corner of the club.. lots of teens and 20something crowd.. not very packed with people though..

bloggin' away..

wah.. sudah seminggu nih bloggin' away.. soalnya kerjaan lagi banyak.. bloggin? mana sempet deh.. anyhow.. gue udah nyobain busway lho.. pas udah bayar sih.. jauh-dekat Rp 2500 saja.. gue coba dari halte di depan ratu plaza.. sepi banget haltenya.. di bus transjakartanya juga gak rame-rame banget.. tapi berdiri juga berhubung kapasitas 80 penumpang, 30 untuk duduk dan 50 untuk yang berdiri.. supirnya pakai jas.. terus ada satgas busway yang bantuin buka dan tutup pintu bus.. suasananya lumayan adem dan nyaman juga sih..
